Wrong Journey

I wish I could say I made a mistake, That there was a choice and I chose wrong, But there was only ever a single road. No regret looming over this time. Destiny thrust upon at a very young age; There was passion in the heart and a goal in mind, But I never realised there was only one way, That I'd lose it in the toughness of the climb. Never a burden for it was willingly shouldered, And carried forth with enthu and zest, But suddenly the digits outnumbered Everything that had ever made sense. And there it all lay broken on the floor, Waiting to be picked up and sorted, But it was looked upon with disdain, As the eyes sought in vain another path. All the while time flew past, Taking with it chances and the like, And still there it was, a tangled mess, The end known, but not the start. The King Behind the Inferno

It is during the day, but the hour is dark, Ashes and smoke hang low in the skies, Even miles away the fires leave their mark, Fires from a forest that slowly dies. Wise men fear a point of no return, Post which the basin could become a land of grass, A matter of increasing concern, As the forest loses twenty per cent of its mas...

Is It Already?

Flames lick a rainforest that once stood tall; The inferno can be detected from the sky, As it forgives neither the brave nor cowards, neither big nor small. Is it already time to say goodbye? Once upon a time oxygen was released; Now only carbon-dioxide greets the atmosphere, All because of carelessness, stupidity and greed. Is the end already so near? The indigenous tribes - and their little kids - are facing the heat, The fire of their dreams burnt by the flames outside, As are leopards, orangutans, and many more feet. Is it already that all hope has died? Ashes of greed are cloaking cities far away, Disrupting lives, closing institutions and stores By plunging them into darkness during hours of day. Is nature's fury already knocking on our doors? Each day a football field's worth of land is reduced to ash, And the forest has been burning for a month prior this date, All for "development...
