Flames lick a rainforest that once stood tall;
The inferno can be detected from the sky,
As it forgives neither the brave nor cowards, neither big nor small.
Is it already time to say goodbye?
Once upon a time oxygen was released;
Now only carbon-dioxide greets the atmosphere,
All because of carelessness, stupidity and greed.
Is the end already so near?
The indigenous tribes - and their little kids - are facing the heat,
The fire of their dreams burnt by the flames outside,
As are leopards, orangutans, and many more feet.
Is it already that all hope has died?
Ashes of greed are cloaking cities far away,
Disrupting lives, closing institutions and stores
By plunging them into darkness during hours of day.
Is nature's fury already knocking on our doors?
Each day a football field's worth of land is reduced to ash,
And the forest has been burning for a month prior this date,
All for "development" - minerals, land and cold cash.
Is it already...already too late?
this is amazing, seriously. I love how well-written this is. great job! it's sad how the lungs of the Earth are burning because of human and natural activities.
